following your smpu tattooing brows it is imperitive to follow the aftercare. If you don't follow the aftercare then you will at risk of infection and will most likely not gain the full benefits of the tattooing.
Please know that although the tattooing procedure is important. the aftercare is even more so! If aftercare is not followed, we will not take responsibility as this is your responsibility and it is vital to follow it as to get the best possible healed result!
ensure your 6 week top up is booked- remember this is a two part procedure and so without your top up its not complete!
After each app (the initial app + top up) follow the same aftercare as below
AFTER THE TREATMENT:
Blot the brows with clean tissue every 30 mins until bedtime. Just before bed, use a clean cotton bud to apply a THIN layer of the aftercare ointment given to you. In the morning, use cooled boiled water from your kettle to dampen a cotton disc, and very gently, wipe the brows to give them a gentle clean and remove the ointment. Then use a clean cotton bud to gently apply another layer of the ointment (this will be given to you). Repeat this process 2 – 3 times per day for 10 - 14 days.
It is normal for the brows to feel itchy after a few days. Do not scratch them. It is normal for the brows to begin to flake around day 3 or 4. Do not help the flakes to shed.
For 2 weeks from the date of your brow treatment, you must do/not do the following:
Do NOT apply makeup or creams (other than those given to you) directly to the brows. You may wear makeup and apply creams AROUND the brows. Please note: creams with Glycolics, AHAs and other active ingredients can result in your brows fading faster.
Do NOT soak the brows. This means you cannot let the water run down your face in the shower, put your head under in a swimming pool/ocean etc. Splash your face when removing makeup used around the brows, use steam rooms or saunas etc. In the shower it is advised to place a piece of cling film over the brow area and to use the shower head in your hand so you can direct the flow of water in a more controlled manner.
Do NOT exercise to the level where you will sweat. Saline water is used to remove unwanted permanent makeup, so sweating through your brows in the first 2 weeks will result in poor pigment retention. For best results, you will continue to limit the amount you sweat for up to 4 weeks after the treatment.
Do NOT expose your brows to UV rays whether from the sun or a sun bed. Once the brows have healed, if you must expose them to UV rays, you MUST apply a high factor sunblock to them. Exposure to UV rays will fade the brows prematurely and can affect the colour of the brows over time.
- The brow procedure does NOT affect the brow hair so you will need to continue to tweeze, wax, or thread unwanted hair, and if you have chosen a brow colour darker than your natural brow hairs, you will need to tint your brow hair. Please DO maintain your brow hair by removing unwanted hair and tinting your brow hairs (if needed) once the brows have finished flaking (wait at least 2 weeks after your treatment to tint).
What to expect during the first 2 – 4 weeks after your initial brow procedure:
For the first day or two, your brow area might be a little swollen, irritated feeling and red.
The colour will darken by day 2 after the treatment (it is essentially forming a scab), and will continue to feel dark until the brows flake, after which point, the colour will lighten.
Between day 4 and 7 after the treatment the brows will begin to flake. This means the top layer of skin and any pigment that was never deep enough to ‘take’ will shed from the brows. This might take only a few days but can take longer depending on the client’s skin. Do NOT pick, or help the flaking along.
The brows will often appear very light in colour underneath the areas that have flaked. This is because the brows are NOT fully healed at this point. The deeper layers of skin are still healing so there is collagen and white blood cells lying on top of the pigment, masking/hiding it. The pigment will strengthen in appearance over the next few weeks as those layers of skin heal. You will not see the full healed result until 4-5 weeks after the treatment.
Once the flaking is done, you may wear makeup over the brows to even things out while you wait for the colour to strengthen. Before leaving your initial appointment, the tehnician will book you in for a retouch appointment in 6-12 weeks. Where she] will replace any pigment that has not taken, make adjustments to the colour etc. This retouch is free if you attend it as scheduled. If you need to reschedule it, and the technician no longer has availability within 6-12 weeks from your initial treatment, you will be charged an additional £60 to book a retouch 12-24 weeks after your initial treatment. Retouches booked in later than 24 weeks after the initial treatment will be charged at the 6-12 month retouch price of £100. Please note, this includes clients who become pregnant between their initial treatment and their retouch appointment.
