I'VE BEEN ASKED FOR A BOOKING FEE, IS THIS LEGIT & WHY?
YES! The times we will definitely ask for a non refundable booking fee is when:
The total costs of treatment/s equal to £30 or more on any treatment on any day
All bridal and freelance appointments
Any treatments exceeding the time of 1 hour.
All Sunday and out of hour appointment treatments regardless of price and times will require a booking fee as these are extra shifts that have been opened upon request.
You will be asked to pay 50% of the amount upon booking via bank transfer and the rest via cash in salon upon completion of the service/s. If it is not paid by the end of day (from the date we send you the BACS transfer details) then you will forfeit the space and have to rebook again if the space is still available we can give you another chance to pay the booking fee. The booking fee scheme is designed to protect appointment spaces and make it fair for clients as we have extremely limited spaces and many clients to makeover! By paying your deposit it will secure your space and give you first priority. Please note that all booking fees are non refundable and in some cases non exchangeable so please be 100% sure when booking as we will not issue refunds.
WHICH PAYMENT METHODS DOES MAKEUP & BEAUTY BAR ACCEPT?
We accept cash only. However, our neighbour, Tesco across the road have a cash point. All booking fees required before treatment date can be paid via bank transfer. For any treatments over £30 we will ask for a 50% non refundable deposit to secure your booking which can be payable via bank transfer.
DO YOU HAVE ANY OFFERS OR DISCOUNTS?

WHAT OTHER SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE THAT ISN'T ON THE BOOKING PAGE?
We do only makeup freelance to your desired Edinburgh location. Prices will vary dependent on location distance, prices may be different to in salon treatments. Our most popular freelance treatments is bridal makeup and hair. For any freelance quotations please email us detailed information on what you are looking for, for what location, how many people, the date and time and any other information you think may be helpful. Please give us 2-3 working days from the date of our response to your email to respond with a detailed quotation.
WHAT TREATMENTS DO YOU DO FREELANCE, AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
YES! we absolutely try to cater to all clients and offer evening appointments upon request and some Monday appointments also. If this sounds good to you, we need at least 24 hours notice and take a 50% non refundable deposit to secure your booking, payable by bank transfer. Please note that sometimes we may not be able to cater to this but we always do our upmost best.
I NEED AN APPOINTMENT OUTWITH YOUR OPENING HOURS, IS THIS POSSIBLE TO HAVE?
We understand that sometimes this cannot be helped and may happen and so all we ask is to give us a call to let us know as lateness (depending on how late, our schedule etc) may mean that we cannot do the treatment and/ or have to cut your treatment. However, we will always do our best to not cut the treatment and do the best to fit you in.

Whether it is a facebook offer, an offer you're using from within the shop etc. you cannot use any offers in conjunction with any other offer and usually we have all t&c's on the promo ad.
I HAVE A CHILD UNDER 16, CAN THEY COME FOR A TREATMENT?
Of course! They can have almost any treatment as long as we have parental or guardian consent. We also require the guardian/parent to fill out the disclaimer form and take the minor to the appointment. No to under 18 for brow tattoo
I NO LONGER REQUIRE MY BOOKING, HOW AND WHERE DO I CANCEL?
We kindly request a minimum of 48 hours to allow a chance for our other clients. Failure to do so, will result in loosing your deposit. and possibly having to pre pay the full amount to secure your next booking. We hope that you understand that no shows dramatically affects business and is unfair to other clients. You can cancel by letting us know on any of our contact details. If you fail to understand anything on this website or simply can’t find what your looking for feel free to book a consultation to have a chat with a member of the team and we can also help pick what treatment may be best for you in terms of what your looking for. We also give you detailed aftercare advice at the end of your treatment, so do not fear! we won't leave you clueless!
THERE IS A TREATMENT I WANT, BUT I CAN'T SEE IT ON THE BOOKING PAGE, WHY?
Chances are it is a price upon request service/ it may be a newly added service and also as we are a fairly new business sometimes we are understaffed, and so there is a chance we may not have a stylist available for that day/time. Best thing to do is get in touch with us if there is a treatment with no pricing, availability or listing and we will be more than happy to help.
HOW ACCESSIBLE IS THE SALON?
Please consider the following:
If you're eligible for the services i.e. if you need a patch test/ if you are medically fit/ have the time (you can check booking timings on our booking icon when you select a treatment)
Please either research if the treatment you are considering booking is for you, if you are unsure you can get free advice from us. Just get in touch with us for a free consultation and we can go over any queries or concerns. It is not advisable to leave it until the treatment, as if you have a certain condition etc. you may not be eligible to have treatment done in which means we may have to reject your treatment.
Please note that some services may run late as the services are all customised and depending on your skin/ what look you are going for etc and as a result this can affect the timing of the treatment (if you are worried about this then please get in touch with us).
We also ask all new clients to be 5 minutes early for the appointment and all treatments are subject to filling out our disclaimer form. All treatments are subject to all new clients filling out a disclaimer form to their true knowledge.
Very! we have free parking available merely one minute away from the salon and free parking outside the salon after 6pm. The buses are also super convenient. Buses running frequently from outside the salon such as the numbers 14,22,10,21,34,36 and 7! There is also even more bus stops available less than 5 minute walk away leading onto the main Leith Walk road! Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access for the Beauty room or toilet area. We have wheelchair access in the front of the salon but cannot always offer it depending on how busy the space is. We apologise for any inconvenience.

FOR TINTING/LASH SERVICES DO I NEED A PATCH TEST?
We are always looking for talented individuals. Even if you do not see a vacancy advertisement whether you are a beauty therapist/ makeup artist/ hairdresser/ hairstylist etc we are always considering applications. Simply navigate to the vacancies page to see how to apply!
We strongly recommend in having one even if you've had tinting or lashes done numerously as your body can become allergic to a certain substance. When you are a new client with us, you will sign a disclaimer form which will indicate and allow us to go ahead with the treatment meaning that if you were to have a reaction we would not be held responsible as we do offer a free patch patch which is to be done 48 hours before desired treatment date. Please consider patch testing strongly as nasty chemical burns can result from an allergic reaction from tinting/ lash glues!
